The recent crisis in Ukraine is preoccupying the international media and is becoming a reason for discussions and the formulation of conclusions, comments and assessments. However, as the situation is still fluid and the information - mainly coming from open sources - is contradictory, biased and incomplete, any prediction about the development of the crisis may be too risky. Aware of all the above problems and based on open source information, comments by scholars and columnists and the bibliography of international relations, strategic studies and history, I will try to provide answers and assessments to questions that the crisis has raised. Considering that recent events are known to some extent, I will proceed with some basic information that we need to know about Ukraine and Crimea and which will help us better understand the roots of today's problems.
