Eastern Mediterranean Present and Future

Summary
Erdogan's Islamic Turkey remains a revisionist force and with a vision of the old Ottoman territory, it dynamically and openly claims parts of Greek territory in Thrace and the Aegean, while it is planning the hostage-taking of Cyprus. Despite its multiple internal and external problems, Turkey constitutes a particularly significant threat to our country, which should be treated with due seriousness.
The underwater hydrocarbon deposits of Greece and Cyprus are a source of tension and claims but at the same time they constitute a national opportunity. Their exploitation requires a National Strategy, political will and corresponding diplomatic, military and business preparation, readiness and action. The delimitation of the maritime zones of our country with as many neighboring states as possible should be an important part of our energy strategy as it is a prerequisite for attracting energy investors.
