The International Defense, Security and Technology Exhibition DEFEA 6 (Defence Exhibition Athens), the largest exhibition in the sector in Southeastern Europe, was held with great success from 8 to 5/2025/2025 at the METROPOLITAN EXPO Exhibition Center, which was organized by the Exhibition Organization Company (ROTA S.A.) and the Association of Greek Industrialists (SEKPY), under the auspices of the Ministry of National Defense (MINDHA).
The Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (ELISME) participated in the Exhibition with its own stand (Hall 3/F40). It had the opportunity to welcome several visitors, most of whom were familiar with its work, to distribute many magazines and publications. It was in a pleasant position to showcase its work and activities, to be informed about defense industry issues, to get in touch with exhibitors, to exchange views with many of its visitors, members and non-members, to acquire new members and to explore collaborations with scientists and organizations relevant to its goals. Our stand, with our new participation in the DEFEA 2025 Exhibition, further strengthened the extroversion of our Institute.
At the opening ceremony, greetings were delivered by the Director of ROTA SA, Mr. Vasilis Barkas, the President of SEKPY, Mr. Tasos Rozolis, and then by the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikos Dendias.
This year, 203 Greek companies participated, a number that far exceeds the 140 participations in 2023, a fact that confirms the development trajectory of the sector.
Several agreements were signed within the framework of the Exhibition, according to an announcement by the organizers, including, for example:
the strategically important collaboration between the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and its subsidiary ELTA SYSTEMS, which concerns the co-production of the BlueWhale autonomous underwater system.
* The MOU between METLEN and IVECO Defence Vehicles for exclusive cooperation for the provision of military trucks to the Greek Armed Forces.
* The strategic agreement between EFA GROUP and the high-tech company Acromove for the development and production of integrated communication solutions utilizing the tactical data software of SCYTALYS, a member of the EFA group.
Also, the French company NAVAL GROUP, manufacturer of the Belhara frigates, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Greek company ALTUS for the integration of the ATLAS 8 UAV system into its naval platforms.
In addition, the company ARQUUS announced that Cyprus has signed a contract for 12 Sherpa armored vehicles.
More information about the Exhibition is of course available in the media.
ELISME, over time, monitors developments in the Greek defense industry and offers a platform to those interested in its promotion and development.
