CHRONOLOGY

The Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (EL.I.S.M.E.), a Non-Profit Legal Entity and an Association, received approval for its official opening on 31/10/2012 and VAT number 997418519.

The Institute is a natural continuation of the HELLENIC SOCIETY FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES (EL.E.S.M.E.), a non-profit company, which was founded with the registration number 1772/5-10-94 at the Court of First Instance of Piraeus, with headquarters in Piraeus and in 1997 moved its headquarters to Athens. The company was created by retired Senior Executives of the Armed Forces and was subsequently expanded with personalities from other areas, such as the University, Diplomatic, Business and Security Forces.

The organization and operation of EL.I.S.M.E. is now based on the Statute and the Internal Operation Regulation (IOR), and is managed by a 12-member Board of Directors.
Both EL.ESME and EL.ISME have produced and are producing an important project with a variety of actions, such as: Holding Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, Lectures, Book Presentations
Production of Studies, Analyses and Writing of Articles
Collaborations with Institutes, Universities and AEI
Research Project Assignments
Continuous Update through the National Media Network
Book Publications and Distribution to Public Libraries
Member participation in media
Internship for University Students
Guidance and Support for its members
Quarterly publication of the magazine "Contemplations"
Exchanges of views with State Bodies, Universities, Embassies, etc.
Library Operation.

The objectives of the Institute can be summarized as follows:
•The further development of cooperation on issues of mutual interest with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as other involved Ministries.
•The development of cooperation with corresponding Institutes abroad and initially with those in the nearby region (Balkans, Black Sea Countries and Eastern Mediterranean).
•The further development of the project by organizing Conferences, Workshops and all forms of events that are within the framework of the Institute's objectives.
•The expansion of its members in order to increase their number in combination with an increase in the members' knowledge base.

The establishment of EL.I.S.M.E. was co-signed by 60 founding members in January 2012.
