Seminar "Greek Culture, its Aesthetics and Influence"

Seminar "Greek Culture, its Aesthetics and Influence"

The Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (ELISME), responding to the request of many Members and Friends, is organizing in January, at its Offices, 28th October (Patision) 88, 1th floor and online, for the first time in Greece, Seminar on this topic.

-Man, according to Aristotle, and as seems correct, is a "political animal", therefore a being who lives/is active within cities, i.e. institutionalized and established communities, societies and collectivities. Within them, he gradually creates culture, technology, arts, educational, political and social action, aesthetics, perceptions and his continuous struggle for evolution and progress.

-The previous parameters, together with other elements (natural environment, struggle for self-knowledge, rivalries for power, continuous efforts for scientific and cognitive development, social contradictions, goals for economic prosperity, etc.), co-create the holistic phenomenon of culture.

-This can be understood as a synthesis of all the previous elements-dimensions, but also as "the exercise and cultivation of all human potential, with the aim of conquering freedom", according to Fichte, or as "harmony and order, which leads human society to spiritual cultivation with material progress", according to Durand.

-In any case, culture and its creation and its recomposition/recreation is a collective phenomenon, with cultures (historical and modern, local cultures, post-cultures and subcultures, etc.) differentiated by place (and time), more or less, that can participate (and) in the "culture of cultures", according to E. Venizelos.

–Especially, for Greek culture, in its diachronicity, which is one of the living historical cultures of our times in its modern continuity, it would be useful to bend over, in order to get to know it, to the extent possible, of course, but also to acquire (some) elements of self-knowledge, personal and collective, in combination with the support of “soft power” and “smart power”, as well as the promotion of the resilience (resiliense) of modern Hellenism, in all its dimensions and manifestations. -Our program can offer everyone a structural and functional possibility of approaching all of the above, hoping for a (further) co-education of us.
