Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (EL.I.S.M.E.)

The Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (HEL.ISS), which in English is rendered as the Hellenic Institute For Strategic Studies (HEL.ISS), is an independent, non-profit institute for strategic studies, analysis and research.

The purpose of the Institute is:

  • The uncompromising and reliable articulation of public discourse - guided by the advisory contribution to the fulfillment of the respective National Interests and European integration - on:

– geopolitical issues (geostrategy, geoeconomics),
– external and internal issues of national interest,
– international issues, with an emphasis on issues of European interest,

  • The study and provision of assessments and recommendations to public and private sector bodies, resulting from the analysis of the above issues.

To achieve its purpose, the Institute addresses sectors and fields such as:

  • National strategy, foreign policy, defense and security, economy, society, energy, Greeks abroad, technology, culture, private interests with national implications and environmental protection.
  • International relations, the common European foreign policy, defense, security and economy, European enlargement and deepening, transatlantic relations, objectives, organization, prospects and evolution of NATO.
  • The geopolitical examination of countries, International Organizations and alliances that present national and European interest (NATO, EU).
