Thomas Phillips Lord Byron
The widespread feelings in favor of Greece before 1820 escalated thanks to the personality and work of the English poet Lord Byron, who toured Greece from 1809 to 1811. Returning to England with the manuscript of the lyrics of "Child Harold", he imposed modern reality on the imagination and consciousness of Europe.  In this he refers to his journey to the mythical Epirus.  Informs  how: "Five thousand Souliotes, between the rocks and the castle on Souli, resisted 30.000 Albanians for 18 whole years. The fortress was finally taken by bribery" concluding that  "In this struggle heroic deeds worthy of the best were accomplished."  days    Greece". In the poem  of  He praised the nature of Epirus with its mountains and rivers, as well as the unslavish soul and bravery of the Greeks. He begins his poem from his stay in Delphi by saying:
"Muse! Who in Greece was said to be of heavenly lineage,
Muse, the mythological one created against the rhapsodist's death...
And I stand with sorrow at the Delphic altar, long deserted,
"Where except for a subdued source all is mute."
Yet  a few verses  of  with a sticker  the Third Rhapsody of Don Juan, which he wrote on the shores of Soulion:
"On the rocks of Souli and on the coast of Parga
Descendants still live, from such a great race,
where only Dorian mothers  have given birth
and  Maybe a seed has sprouted there.
which goes straight to the blood of the descendants of Hercules."
And in the Hymn for Greece he writes: "Ancient homeland of free souls, enlightened Greece, honor of humanity your rebirth! With warm cheers the earth and the sky accept, with new glory your children shine like their brave ancestors and out of sympathy again for you every kind and warm heart.."
Byron's Greece was alive.

Later, Mantzaros would set to music the thurion of Rigas Velenstinlis as well as the “Hymn to Freedom” by Dionysios Solomos. The Greek Revolution would later be sung as an opera with the works of Paul Carrère, which were mainly the operas “Markos Botsaris”, “Despo the Hero of Soulio” and “Kyra Frosini and Ali Pasha”.

Karl  Krazeisen- Tzavelas
Ο Karl  Krazeisen  (1794 – 1878) was a German army officer, a philhellene who fought in the Greek Revolution for a year (1826-1827) in the siege of Athens and the Acropolis. He painted 19 portraits of the great heroes of the struggle such as Theodoros Kolokotronis, Georgios Karaiskakis, Konstantinos Kanaris, Andreas Miaoulis, Ioannis Makrygiannis and others. He painted these while attending either the camps (Poros, Aegina, Nafplio, Salamis) or the Third National Assembly and faithfully rendered their characteristics. He was a self-taught painter. He also painted several landscapes, such as Nafplio and the Acropolis, and several portraits on paper with pencil. As well as the first Greek steamship "Karteria" at the arrival of which he was present in Poros. The total of his works is 91 paintings. 70 of them are pencil drawings. Returning to Germany, he lithographed his drawings and published them (from 1827 to 1831) in 7 albums entitled "Portraits of the most famous Greeks and Philhellenes, together with some views and costumes drawn from life and published by Karl Kratzeisen". Fisherman, your last sufferings  they disturb my soul. What do the soldiers of King Priam mean to me? Those who excite me are the thieves and the charioteers. Byron's death in 1824 transformed the philhellenic movement into a crusade.  ΤMissolonghi became the symbol of sacrifice and freedom.
The residents of Messolonghi, Chios and the Greeks in general who were tortured, slaughtered or taken to slave markets by the  Turks, the European  common  opinion saw them as the new martyrs of the Christian faith. Philhellene works gave particular emphasis to the Christian character. While a new thematic emerged characterized by the emphasis on priestly motifs.  In the Chios massacre of the Russian Xindacomb,  the priest fights with the symbol of the cross in his hand as the last and supreme defender of the faith  and freedom.  Such scenes lit fires in the hearts of the Christians of Europe.  Often historical events are intertwined with some personal drama, like the painting of Ary  Scheffer "A young Greek who defends his wounded father" and becomes a man in battle.
