On March 31, Messrs. Anastasiades and Eroglou will meet to assess the progress so far of the talks, which are being conducted by the two negotiators.
However, the first indications regarding the progress of the intra-Cypriot talks are not that encouraging, as stated by President Mr. Anastasiades.
According to Cypriot sources, Mr. Anastasiades's reticence is due to the fact that the Turkish Cypriots insist on a solution that ensures the retention of all Turkish Cypriots in their current positions and provides for the rotating presidency, which Mr. Christofias had accepted, but which the Greek Cypriots do not accept.
Turkish Cypriot negotiator Mr. Ozerai stated to the "Voice of America" radio station that it would be important for the two sides to cooperate in various areas, such as the management of energy deposits, without waiting for the solution of the Cyprus problem.

These positions of the Turkish Cypriots prove, once again, that they are only interested in imposing their views and obtaining benefits, through the MOUs, to the detriment of the Greek Cypriots. Following this, Mr. Anastasiades should not be carried away by his desire to change the status quo, which he characterizes as unacceptable and dangerous, and to make unacceptable concessions, nor should he accept MOUs that will favor the Turkish Cypriots, because they, from the moment they achieve their goals through them, will harden their stance and will not hesitate to undermine the talks.
