We would not be straying too far from reality if we risked characterizing what is happening in Ukraine as “an attempt to wage an asymmetric economic global war,” in which the three global economic superpowers (Russia, the EU, and the US) have been actively involved. From another perspective, we could decode the developments as a “rigged economic game,” which exploits the existing Ukrainian identity crisis.
