Press Release 10/5/2014

On Thursday, 8MMay 2014 (09.30-14: 00), the Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (EL.I.S.M.E) organized the conference “Political-Military Relations in a State Context. Lessons for Greece”, on Ministry of Foreign Affairs  ('Yiannos Kranidiotis' room). This is a very important issue that has influenced our recent history (especially in times of crisis) and concerns both politics (mainly) and military leadership.

The favorable comments, the pioneering nature of the topic for Greek data, the The quality of the presentations in combination with the overall organization is considered to characterize the conference as particularly successful. There was satisfactory participation of the audience. The presence of representatives of the leadership of the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces, Honorary Chiefs, Commanders and Deputy Chiefs of the Armed Forces, Ambassadors of the Hellenic Republic, Retired Officers of the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces, University Professors, Delegations of Active Officers of the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces, representatives of the Press, Students and others is noteworthy.

The only dissonance that provoked corresponding comments was the absence of the first component of Politico-Military Relations (PMR), that is, the political component, such as Ministers and Deputy Ministers (or their representatives) of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Defense, as well as invited members of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the House.
