The chair-centaurs are leading Europe to the brink.
The EU, which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012, today supports the losing war in Ukraine in every way, until the fall of the last Ukrainian, until the loss of the last inch of Ukrainian land.
And the ordinary European citizen wonders: If the US together with Europe could not help Ukraine defeat Russia, how is it possible that von der Leyen, Macron, Starmer and Merz imagine that Europe alone will be able to defeat Russia, without the US? Is Macron asking for European money to develop his nuclear power to cover Europe against Russia, as he states, or is he simply trying to change his ominous fortunes within France?
And is Starmer, with his involvement in the EU, trying to reverse Brexit to resurrect his fading popularity? As for Merz, he is facing serious problems even before he takes over the chancellorship, because in 2022 Germany had 263.000 homeless while in 2023 the homeless exceeded 530.000, and why in the fourth quarter of 2024 4.215 German companies covering 38.000 jobs went bankrupt, according to the Halle Institute for Economic.
Brussels and the European leaders who preach the continuation of the war in Ukraine, in contrast to the US which is now aiming for peace, that the dependence on the US of European defense equipment is enormous, from American spare parts to satellite communication links and software updates? Don't they know that 55% of weapons system imports into Europe between 2019 and 2023 are from the US? That more than half of Europe's advanced combat aircraft, such as the F-35 and F-16, are purchased from the US? And that if the US stops support, the equipment may stop working?
Does Starmer not know that the submarines on which the British nuclear deterrence doctrine is based have ballistic missiles that are leased from the US, where they return for maintenance? And that missile tests are conducted under US supervision? Does Starmer ignore that in the last eight years, Britain has publicly acknowledged two failed nuclear missile tests? In short, do not the armchair centaurs of Europe know that the US can disable many of Europe's weapons? Why the empty promises to the unfortunate Ukrainians?
Is the EU about to break up?
The US abandonment of Europe confirms the economic and geostrategic shrinkage of the American empire and the decline of the West. After all, since the US has decided to ally with Russia, it no longer needs Europe as a buffer zone between the US and Russia. For 80 years, the US has been responsible for maintaining the European order, and now the EU is being forced to wean itself, and its dissolution seems to be taking place. As long as the US was giving orders to the EU, the member states seemed united. With the withdrawal of the mandating colonialist, the mandated colony was divided.
And the Commission, not elected by and accountable to European citizens, now functions as the Deep State of Brussels, trying to manage a divided Europe. Examples of exceptions to the “common” policy that von der Leyen is trying to impose are Spain on Palestine and Hungary on Russia. And with the US tariffs, key cracks in “unity” on trade are emerging, because the different European countries are exposed in different ways to Brussels’ retaliation in the trade war that Trump has opened. France, Italy, Spain and Ireland, which are most exposed to Trump’s threatened tariffs on alcohol, criticize von der Leyen for unilaterally resorting to a second round of tariffs on American products.
The “coalition of the willing” in favor of Ukraine, proposed by the British, French, and Turks, automatically means a fragmented Europe, bypassing existing European organizational structures. And it is unacceptable that the EU seeks to advance strategic agreements with Turkey, which has occupied 37% of Cyprus for fifty years, threatens Greece with casus beli, and disputes European borders.
Why is Russia being demonized?
And one wonders, why later there will not be a coalition of the willing against any state/member that does not obey the central orders or the great European powers? Although the main goal of the deep state is different, it is the development of the military industry of Europe. And in order to convince European citizens of the need to reduce social benefits and increase taxes in favor of the development of the military industry, there must be a dangerous enemy.
As a result, Russia is increasingly demonized as Europe's greatest threat, even though it liberated Europe from Nazi Germany in World War II, and even though it has not threatened any Western country or the security of the world since then. In fact, some governments of EU member states are issuing "survival guides" to a nuclear war and building war shelters, trying to convince European citizens of the supposedly upcoming Russian attack. The Russians are at the gates! However, the EU remains divided even after the construction of the imaginary dangerous enemy Putin.
The war blueprint that Brussels dubbed the “White Paper” and which refers to the future of European defense, was drafted by the European Commissioner for Defense, Lithuanian Andrius Kubilius, and the head of European diplomacy, Estonian Kaja Kallas. It was presented by the Commission on 19/3/2025, and discussed at the EU Summit on 20-21/3/2025. It emphasizes the threat from Russia and the strengthening of Ukraine. It includes the offensive rather than deterrent program “ReArm Europe”, which aims to strengthen the European military industry. T
Interestingly, at the summit, European leaders disagreed with each other on almost all proposals on the Ukraine issue. No joint statement of support for Ukraine was issued, due to Hungary’s refusal. Kaja Kallas’ proposal for the EU to commit to providing military assistance to Ukraine worth 40 billion euros by 2025 was not approved. Zelensky’s request for immediate assistance to Ukraine with a new package of 5 billion euros was also not approved, due to the refusal of France and Italy, despite the fact that these countries belong to the “alliance of the willing.”
They also did not agree on who would represent Europe, thus insulting the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Estonian Kaja Kallas, who has stated that she does not believe in diplomacy and wants to dismantle Russia. The summit once again expressed the unfounded fear of Moscow attacking EU member states, as well as the well-founded doubts about the protection of Europe from the US.
Full speed ahead towards debt increase
The “ReArm Europe” plan was announced by von der Leyen after a “summit” attended by only 12 of the 27 EU member states, in which four non-EU states participated. And of course, a decision to increase EU defense funding highlights the violation of national defense sovereignty, the abolition of the national sovereignty of the member states. Subsequently, von der Leyen’s original “Rearm Europe” plan was renamed with a more evocative “Preparation 2030” in order to excite European citizens about the feasibility of increasing defense spending at the expense of social benefits and the austerity and cutback programs that will follow.
The plan in question involves (a) distributing €150 billion in low-interest loans from the EU and (b) mobilizing €650 billion from national budgets, with a relaxation of debt rules, to purchase weapons and ammunition for Europe’s military equipment against the imaginary Russian threat. And there is serious friction over whether to issue common debt (i.e. Eurobonds) by the 27 member states or whether financing defense spending will further burden the budgets (debt and deficit) of each state. Economists warn that this relaxation of the rules of the Stability Pact will dramatically increase public debt in the member states.
In short, the EU, with the proposed project, and the creation of a huge new unsecured debt, is recklessly trying to help some immediate economic growth because its economy is sinking. Instead of investing in digital industrialization, it is spending about a trillion on defense equipment, and even in an era of nuclear powers.
