Most Greek MEPs supported the resolution to lift restrictions on the use of weapons by Ukraine against Russia. The resolution was approved with 425 votes in favor, 131 against and 63 abstentions.

The MEPs of ND (with the exception of Vangelis Meimarakis who abstained) and PASOK (with the exception of Nikos Papandreou who chose to abstain) voted in favor. The KKE and Pleusi Eleftherias voted against. From SYRIZA, Kostas Arvanitis voted against while the others abstained. The Hellenic Solution, NIKI and Afroditi Latinopoulou abstained.

"With yet another, very dangerous for the peoples, resolution on the imperialist war between NATO and capitalist Russia, the European Parliament is rushing to add fuel to the fire of war, provocatively asking EU member states to immediately lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons systems delivered to Ukraine against legitimate military targets on Russian territory," the KKE said in a statement.

According to the resolution, if the current restrictions are not lifted, Ukraine will not be able to fully exercise “its right to self-defense and will remain exposed to attacks against its population and infrastructure.” A total of 619 voted in favor and 98 abstained.
