Syria: Israeli involvement and chemical weapons
For more than two years, the Syrian civil war has been waged through proxies (anti-regime forces, Islamist extremists, Kurdish fighters, government forces, Hezbollah’s military wing, Iranian Revolutionary Guards, etc.), operating within Syrian territory and supported by external actors (USA, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Gulf Arab countries, etc.). A war of attrition has been waged, resulting in more than 70.000 deaths and approximately 1.500.000 refugees. At first glance, it seems that the recent Israeli airstrikes on Syrian targets are creating new data, both in the future developments of the Syrian civil war and in the regional security situation.
