Political Instability Risk Assessment
The last few decades have been characterized by a significant number of political incidents
instability and internal security crises. This observation has highlighted the need for tools
analyses that can explain the factors that lead to such phenomena and at the same time be able to
used predictively in decision-making and analysis processes. This study attempts to
developed such a tool, combining theoretical approaches from the international literature with analysis
real historical cases. The result is a single analytical framework that allows the assessment of
risk of a socio-political entity taking destabilizing actions within the system to which it belongs in order to secure its perceived rights. The value of this analytical framework
lies in its practical dimension, as it can be utilized by researchers, analysts and decision-makers
policy making without requiring specialized technical knowledge.
The study was evaluated through the double-blind peer review process and published in Security
and Defense Quarterly of the War Studies University of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland. In the preparation of the study
The members of ELISME participated: Zisis Kyrgos as the main researcher and Antgos er.e. Mr. Ippokrates Daskalakis as
supervisor.
