UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' EXERCISE PROGRAM AT ELISM

The Hellenic Institute For Strategic Studies (HEL.ISS), which in English is rendered as Hellenic Institute For Strategic Studies (HEL.ISS), is an independent, non-profit institute for strategic studies, analysis and research. It is non-governmental and self-financed. Information about its purpose and work is reported on its official website www.elisme.gr.
ELISME is composed of people with scientific backgrounds from various professional and educational fields, with different experiences, work methodologies and ways of thinking. The main focus is on the fields of defense, security, strategic studies and education. The internship program offers opportunities in various fields, such as international relations, defense, security, education, history, political science, public administration, human resources, information technology, multimedia, communication, web developing, web design.

Program objectives
The program has two main objectives:
• To provide interns with the opportunity to develop professionally and personally
• To offer the Institute support in its work and access to new talents and individual skills.

Structure of the program
Students are accepted from universities in the country through ATLAS or from foreign universities upon request of the University.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, as long as there are vacancies.

Duration From 2 to 3 months within the period from September 15 to July 15. Extension of the duration of the internship is possible upon special approval by ELISME.
Place of work At the offices of ELISME Nikis 11 - fourth floor - Athens

The working language is Greek. Knowledge of English is mandatory, at least at level B1. Knowledge of other foreign languages ​​is considered an additional qualification.

Duties Within the framework of the program, students are employed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, mornings or afternoons, within the framework of an individual work schedule. Students are required to attend, outside of the above hours, a large part of the seminars, lectures and other events of the Institute and to assist, if requested, in their organization. They undertake duties within the framework of the needs of the Institute during their internship, taking into account their studies and skills.

Certification A certificate is issued for the period of the internship.
Leave of absence. For students through the ATLAS system as provided for in these regulations. For other students upon agreement. The usual leave is three working days for the internship period of two or three months.

Financial Issues ELISME is not responsible for health insurance coverage and accommodation issues, as well as for payment of remuneration in any form. Students must provide proof of insurance coverage through their internship program or a private or other insurance provider, if they cover their own expenses.

Supporting Documents Application, CV preferably in Europass format and a letter of interest for the specific internship position. Also a photocopy of ID and student status certificate. Various issues Interns, during their internship, have the right to use the ELISME library.
They are reported to the program coordinator for coordination, determining the work program and any problems.
They must work according to the instructions of the supervisor, who will guide and direct their practice, and cooperate constructively with the members of the Board of Directors.

Directed search of bibliographic sources and publications on topics related to international relations and strategic studies.

  • Production of short analyses on specific topics that will be indicated.
  • Preparing key points of current news events.
  • Participation in educational and training activities (seminars, workshops, presentations, conferences) of ELISME with provision of secretarial support.

Necessary qualifications  third or fourth year of study at the Department of International Relations of a university, very good knowledge of English, very good use of a computer.
