The Hellenic Institute for Strategic Studies (EL.I.S.M.E.) has been active since 1994 (until 2011 EL.E.S.M.E.) by approaching every issue (external or internal) of national interest from a geopolitical perspective. In this context, it annually plans a series of informative events, publishes the quarterly magazine "PROBLIMATISMOI" and maintains the website www.elisme.gr.
Indicatively, the Institute's areas of interest include internal issues such as economy, energy, development, competitiveness, defense, security, military technology, crisis management, the Middle East, demographics, migration and Islam, our national identity, border areas, education and culture, while the field of external issues includes the claims and military threats of neighboring states, the Cyprus problem, the EU and the prospects for integration, transatlantic relations, the Great Powers, International Organizations, International Law (and in particular the Law of the Sea), the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean, Central Asia, etc.
Our Institute believes that the performance of its work becomes more complete if appropriate cooperation and coordination is achieved with bodies (public or private) or even individuals who are active in related sectors.
Possible cooperation could include co-organization of Workshops, Conferences, Lectures, exchange of articles on the respective websites (possibly also in the magazine), as well as any other initiative that will strengthen mutual common goals.
